Sergeant Alfred “Tony” Stanford

3210 Servicing Commando

We were contacted by Alice Pickett , regarding her late Father Sgt Alfred “Tony” Stanford who had served with 3210 Servicing Commando and was part of the D-Day Operation Overlord ,Alice doesn’t know much about her late fathers service and is keen to find out as much as possible .

Of the 6 x RAFSC Units that took part in Overlord all had landed within a week of D-Day. 3205/7/9 & 3210 landed on D Day+1 and went to various Groups of 2 Tac Air Force. They operated at most of the 25 airfields constructed by the #RE within the 1st 2 months!

After returning to the UK after the invasion Sgt Stanford left for the middle East with 3210 Servicing Commando then onto 307 Maintenance Unit in India before returning to the UK.
