Group Captain Stanley Clarke (retired), 3201 Servicing Commando

The Association is delighted to introduce Stanley Clarke, formerly of 3201 Servicing Commando. Stanley is 99, alive and well living in care home in Harrogate. Stanley spent a long and distinguished career in the Royal Air Force ,He joined in 1940 as an Electrical Fitter Apprentice aged just 16, volunteered for Commando training in 1942 ,spent his war in North Africa and then into Europe via Italy.

In 1946 he took a commission and completed flying training, was posted to fly Neptune anti-sub and maritime patrol aircraft. He retired in 1979 after 39 years service as Group Captain and Station Commander at Swanton Morley.

we were introduced to Stanley by his granddaughter Anna Hodgson who contacted us via our website , Anna stated , her grandfather is ‘with it’ mentally but is physically frail. The family are sorting out a date when He can receive Association visitors, where we can record his story and get some photos and provide copies of his paperwork for the Association Archive.
