My Grandfather James Connon served with the Servicing Commando Squadron (3203?) in North Africa, Sicily and Italy (Salerno) during WWII. I was hopefull that some members might be able to give some anecdotes or stories about the unit and/or my grandfather. His service and my great Granfather's (WWI Somme) influenced my joining the Australian Army (26 years) and I am now trying to research their service. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Graham Hayes

To Flt Lt Newton, Flt Lt Rowell and WO Farrell, I wish to thank you and the association for the excellent dinner on Friday 19th. The dinner and service were first class. It was a pleasure to be there and to meet so many members past and present. Hopefully the Wing will go from strength to strength and look forward to The 50th.Thank you allGeorge Parke

Hear hear George! Though, in reality it was all the Wing's doing – the Association were more partakers than arrangers! It was great to see so many old faces and good to hear the depth of feeling abounding for the Wing. Long may TSW reign! If the spirit of the Servicing Commandos can live on for so long, then the TSW family will live for a long time yet – certainly, if those present on Friday are any indicator! A great time was had – thanks again.

My Father was Ronald H Martin, who served in 3201. My son has a topic at school which I would like to contribute toward, with items of interest about the Servicing Commandos. It has been lovely to read this site, as I know so little about the time my father spent in 3201. Although I accompanied him to reunions, I was only a child at the time and remember only the people, not the stories. I particularly remember meeting ?Mr John Crisp.Thankyou. N Martin

Just a quick message to all attending the reunion & Families Day. Have a great time, sorry I won't be there but I'm currently on a Keo drinking tour of Cyprus. It's going very well! Make sure the TSW Old Boys win the tug 'o' war again this year. Ding Dong!

Hello everyone at TSW both ex and serving. My name is John Williams, I served on "the Wing" from 1993-1999. (SAC on ops) lots of N.I, Bozzers, and exercises. I don't know if anyone reading this remembers me, but I do have some great memories of my time at Stafford. If anyone would like to contact me use the above e-mail address.Unfortunatly I have been suffering bad health for some time. I have had a nasty back injuryand suffer a little with my nerves. Trying to overcome both I have taken my degree in Archaeology from Cardiff Uni. This I achieved with Hons. I'm now studying for my Doctorate. Anyway could someone let me know how the "90's" era boys are doing i.e Mork Lovell, Coups, paddy Maguigan etc would be nice.

I have just read Jeff Davies book, The history of RAF Servicing Comandos which I was able to purchase online. Thank you Jeff for this book. My father HARRY PLUMB was also in 3232 SCU and I have loads of photos which now make sense! I am almost sure that Dad is the chap on the right in the photo on page 43. And I have photos of them enjoying a skinny dip in the stream also mentioned on this page. It is an honour to read the history of RAF SCU's. I would love contact with any else connected to 3232. Best wishesEileen

Just to keep the memory of my father alive. My dad, Flt Sgt Eric Donald Stanhope, 540957 RAFSC3201. One of the first to take up Monty's challenge to volunteer (silly boy) for services unknown. He had many stories to tell, not of what he did, but of the people he met during his time with the Servicing Commandos. He lost a couple of good friends in Tunisia.( I think mainly from traffic accidents) He never recovered from the effects of war; refused to fly, drank too much, smoked too much, didn't sleep enough and died too young but still a very gentle man.CheersTony

Still have fond memories of the times spent between 1985-1988 with some of you who were there then. What a great site I found by chance when trying to look up some old acquaintances.Would be great to hear from anyone who was there at that time.Tried many a time to find Bob Tomkins whilst working in Manchester as a Motorway Cop but our paths never crossed. The last time I was on base was the 25th I think, the same fateful day that the Manchester IRA bomb went off.Hard to believe that 21years have passed since I used to 'look forward' to being shipped out to B/brook Mill.RegardsPaul Searle

My Dad joined the RAF in 1943 and was also in Combined OPS during WW2. His name was JOHN AITKEN DOUGLAS from Edinburgh and he would have been 18 when he joined. He didn't tell me much about his wartime experience other than he landed on Omaha Beach and I think he said that it was D-Day plus 1. He was a ground wireless operator by trade. After normandy he met a girl in Bruge,Belgium. Her name was Leanne. Later he went to the Far East and was stationed in Balikpapan in Borneo before the end of the war in Japan. Could anyone tell me what unit he would most likely have belonged to or indeed, does anybody remember my dad? Sadly he died five years ago on 6th June 2005. I would very much appreciate it if anyone has any information. Thanks in advance, Andrew Douglas
